All natural health products sold in Canada are subject to the Natural Health Products Regulations which came into effect in January 2004. The regulations provide Canadians with access to safe, effective, high quality natural health product which are approved by Health Canada. To be legally sold in Canada, all natural health products must have a product license, and the Canadian sites that manufacture, package, label and import these products must also have site licenses.

To get product and site licenses, specific labelling and packaging requirements must be met, good manufacturing practices must be followed, and proper safety and efficacy evidence must be provided. Nature’s Way products are approved by Health Canada. Find out more about the Natural Health Products Regulations.

As always, it is important to consult your health care practitioner before taking any natural remedies or supplements, especially if you are taking medication, have any health conditions, are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Omega-3 fatty acids are essential fatty acids that we must get from the diet for good health. The health benefits commonly associated with omega-3 are primarily attributed to the longer-chain omega-3 fatty acids EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid). Dietary sources of these two fatty acids are seafood and marine fatty fish such as anchovies, sardines, mackerel or fish oil supplements. Algal oil can also be a direct source of EPA and DHA, making it an ideal source for vegetarians or those who prefer a plant based source.
Liquid NutraSea products must be stored in the refrigerator after being opened. The product will last up to 100 days if these instructions are followed. We cannot guarantee the quality of our liquid products if they go unrefrigerated.
As long as the bottle is unopened, the summer heat will not cause it to go rancid. We recommend storing the bottles as directed (room temperature when unopened) once they arrive at their shipping destination.
Fish oils in our NutraSea Omega-3 products are sourced from wild, cold water fish caught in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Chile and Peru, Eastern Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Africa and the Mediterranean Sea. None of our products use farmed fish. Our fish oil is certified by Friend of the Sea. We proudly manufacture the NutraSea Omega-3 products in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and source other ingredients from the USA and Japan.
Nature’s Way uses natural flavours in all NutraSea products. These natural flavours can come from a variety of sources, such as plants, roots, fruits, vegetables and spices.
The green tea extract in our products is used as an oil stabilizer to prevent oxidation, and not as a dietary source of green tea catechins. Our NutraSea products with green tea antioxidant contain less than 5 mcg of caffeine per serving.

At the recommended dose, NutraSea and NutraSea+D are safe to consume during pregnancy and while nursing. NutraSea hp, NutraSea DHA and NutraVege are more specialized omega-3 supplements and therefore you should consult with a health care practitioner prior to use during pregnancy and lactation. Omega-3 fatty acids are essential nutrients that are important for the maintenance of good health of the general population as well as expectant mothers who we always recommend consult with their health care provider to determine which natural health products are appropriate for them during this life stage.
The white, cloudy sediment that can sometimes be found in bottles of fish oil occurs when the oil is kept cold in a refrigerator. The cold temperatures create the cloudiness or sediment that you may see in your bottle; this is typical of supplements containing fatty acids and commonly also seen with many cooking oils. It is completely normal and does not affect the quality of the product. In fact, slight temperature changes such as moving it to a different part of the fridge or when taking it out to use can resolve it.
Tocopherols are compounds naturally found in a variety of vegetable oils, including soy, and can be extracted to use as an antioxidant in many different products. In fact, soybean oil is the most common source of tocopherols in fish oils. Tocopherols are added to freshly refined fish oil to help prevent oxidization and ensure their quality remains intact. Indication on the label that tocopherols can be derived from soy is not mandatory in Canada for Natural Health Products but was done for NutraSea to provide transparency regarding our ingredients.
Our NutraSea products contain mixed natural tocopherols (Vitamin E) used to preserve the quality of our premium oils. They are derived from highly refined vegetable oils which may include soybean oil, but soy may not be present at all.  The amount of Vitamin E is in the range of 10 to 15 mg per serving of our fish oil, therefore, it may contain a small amount of soy.
